Stefano Boccelli

Aerospace Engineer, PhD

Hi and welcome to my website. In my work, I develop physical models for non-equilibrium phenomena in gases and plasmas, and I apply them to a range of natural science and engineering problems, including the high-speed flight of meteoroids and spacecrafts in the high atmosphere and Hall effect thrusters.

The most direct applications of my work include:

Presently, I am an NPP post-doctoral fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and I spend my time developing kinetic and gas-dynamic models to study the icy moons of Jupiter. Europa and Ganymede (Jupiter) and Enceladus (Saturn) host huge oceans of liquid water, and are the most likely place where we could find life, in the Solar System. Bacteria? Jellyfish? Dolphins (so long and thanks for all the fish)? You tell me.

Feel free to drop me an email for any inquiries or collaborations.
